Representatives and investors of world investment funds, which have reached a volume of $500 billion, attended the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), co-sponsored by Turkish Airlines.

This year’s congress of the WBAF, which is a partner of the G20 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, was held in Istanbul. 

The forum chaired by the Republic of Turkey Chairman of the Parliamentary Budget and Planning Commission Lutfi Elvan hosted ministers and senior bureaucrats from Mexico, Spain, Mali, Mauritius, and Malaysia.

The meeting was attended by Safia Boly, Minister for Private Investment, Small and Medium Enterprises and National Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Mali; Prof. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius; Dato’ Lokman Hakim Ali, Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia; Jose Enrique Millo Rocher, Secretary-General of International Affairs of the Andalusia Government of Spain; and Martha Delgado Peralta, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States. The meeting was chaired by the Republic of Turkey Chairman of the Parliamentary Budget and Planning Commission Lutfi Elvan.

For the first time this year, a hundred selected start-ups and scale-ups had the unique opportunity to pitch their businesses to the hundreds of angel investors present at the forum on the Global Fund Raising Stage (GFRS). A total of eight international economic cooperation agreements were signed at the World Congress WBAF 2020.
