The Istanbul Jewelry Show held at the CNR Expo will be opening its doors for the 50th time. Just like every year, the show offers the chance to meet leading buyers in the jewelry and watch sector from Eastern Europe, the Near East, Russia, and the Middle East. While participants discover the latest products and designs by more than 1,250 local and foreign companies, they also have the opportunity to establish new business connections.


THE STORY OF COFFEE

The exhibition From Istanbul to Oxford focuses on the journey of coffee from the Ottoman Empire to England. The exhibition examines the first coffee shop that opened in Oxford in 1651, how the English coffee culture emerged, and how the English adapted coffee to their culture. While the exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum explores the fascinating and complicated cultural relations between the two great powers of the time, it also examines objects connected with Turkish coffee and English adaptations of these objects.


BIENNIAL IN SYDNEY

In its 22nd year, the Biennale of Sydney that has exhibited the works of almost 1,800 artists since 1973 continues to be a platform for artists and new ideas. The biennial is one of the world’s longest running contemporary art festivals of its kind, and has a solid space in the visual arts scene. Opening its doors on March 14, the biennial will feature works by artists including Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Tony Albert, and Sammy Baloji. 


Turkish and German Cinema Meets

20-29, MARCH

The Turkey-Germany Film Festival serves for cultural dialogue between the two countries. The festival that hosts a platform for feature-length, short films, and documentaries offers viewers current samples of the two country’s cinema. The event aims to establish a mutual discussion platform using the esthetic and informative means of cross-cultural cinema from different roots.


TURKISH WALTZ CONCERT IN LONDON

1, APRIL

The London Yunus Emre Institute offers a unique music feast with the Turkish waltzes concert organized as a part of its Turkish Masters project. The concert sponsored by Turkish Airlines will be held at Cadogan Hall in London. Famous violin virtuoso Cihat Aşkın will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Çağdaş Özcan on the piano, Serkan Halili on the qanun, Timuçin Abacı on the trumpet and Ünsal Çeliksu on the clarinet. 


THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY MEETS IN GENEVA

The 90th Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) brings the automotive industry together. At the show that offers innovations and solutions for the future, leading manufacturers introduce their latest models ranging from efficient city cars to dream hypercars.  For the duration of the show, Palexpo, Geneva’s congress and exhibition center, will be the stage of classic automobile exhibitions, presentations of high-tech car products, and test drives.

The Cheltenham Festival ranks among the United Kingdom’s most prestigious horse races, and will host 28 races held over four days. In addition to horse races, the festival is the scene of impressive derbies, and offers visitors the opportunity of attending concerts, shopping, and gastronomic events.


A YACHT SHOW IN SINGAPORE

The Singapore Yacht Show held at the ONE 15 Marina Sentosa Cove defines the trend in Asia’s yachts and luxury. The show offers the chance to view boats of all types and sizes ranging from motorboats to luxury yachts, sailing boats to Caraboats. In addition to yacht demonstrations, the show promises unforgettable moments with gala dinners and glamorous parties. 


ECODESIGN BECOMES POPULAR

6-7, MARCH

The event “Cemre Bazaar” is organized by the Social Development Center Education and Social Solidarity Association (TOGEM-DER), which is an organization under the auspices of H.E. Emine Erdoğan, wife of Turkish President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with the theme “Zero Waste” at the Grand Sheraton Hotel, Istanbul. Last year, the event hosted Bea Johnson, a world pioneer of zero waste, and received a great response. This year, in order to raise awareness of zero waste once again and bring attention among the public to recycling, the event is hosting famous designers including Ezra-Tuba Çetin, Tuvana Büyükçınar, and Hakan Akkaya who focus on ecodesign. Famous chefs including Claudio Chinali, Eyüp Kemal Sevinç, Sinem Özler, and Emine Beder will organize workshops at the event aimed at recycling in the kitchen. Proceeds from the event, which is open to the public and where more than 100 brands ranging from textiles to home accessories will be present, will be donated to the “Zero Waste” project and children in need.
