Taking its guests to the highest number of countries worldwide with one of the youngest fleets in Europe, Turkish Airlines has named the newest member of its fleet “Maçka” after the hometown of Martyr Eren Bülbül.

The first of the 30 Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft, 5 of which is optional, Turkish Airlines ordered from Boeing has joined the fleet with its TC-LLA tail registration code.
A poll was launched on social media for the public to name the aircraft selecting from the names Perge, Asos, Göbeklitepe and Zeugma. However, due to high demand from the followers, the flag carrier airline named the Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft “Maçka,” the hometown of Martyr Eren Bülbül. Maçka will make its first flight to Trabzon, and Turkish Airlines will visit the family of martyred Eren Bülbül.
Commenting on the delivery of the Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft, Turkish Airlines Chairman&CEO M. İlker Aycı highlighted the contributions of this aircraft to Turkish Airlines and its passengers by saying “Adding our new generation aircraft to our fleet, we are continuing our strategy of growth, we are renewing our commitment to flying to more international destinations than any other airline in the world. In the context of our vision for the future, adding the 787-9 Dreamliners to our fleet and reaching out to new horizons gives us great excitement. The advanced technology of the aircraft, its fuel efficiency and passenger-focused cabin design will contribute immensely to being the first choice of our guests in air travel and offering the best in its class experience in the future.”
What does the 787-9 Offer?
Looking from the outside, the Boeing 787-9 stands out with its elegant design, wide windows, and extremely flexible wings that curl up during flight giving a bow appearance. The Boeing 787-9, a wide-bodied, twin-engine long-haul aircraft that will be operating on Turkish Airlines’ long-distance flights offers passengers a more comfortable flight experience. The high proportion of composites used during production creates a high-umidity environment in the cabin. Boeing 787-9 has much larger windows than other passenger aircraft in its class, a pleasant detail that enables maximum enjoyment during the flight. There are no plastic window shades. If you are disturbed by the sunlight, all you have to do is adjust the darkness of the windows.
Cabins Carry Turkish Airlines Signature
Turkish Airlines redesigned these aircraft to provide passengers with a better service. Comfortable seats manufactured by TSI Aviation Seats, one of the global carrier’s subsidiaries, wider gaps between seats, adjustments enabling easy use of overhead cabinets, lock storage units, connection points for USBs and plugs add more comfort and convenience on your flights. The cabin has been designed with attractive interior features in keeping with the Turkish Airlines’ brand philosophy “Flow”..
Turkish Airlines equipped the Economy Class cabin with comfortable 44 cm wide seats arranged in a line of 3-3-3. While the 78 cm legroom area between the seats allows more space for comfortable movement, the 18-inch HD video screen and touch feature control will add entertainment and pleasure to your journey.
The “Turquoise Waves” lighting creates aesthetic and balanced light in the cabin. Adding our delicious meals/snacks to this spacious environment designed by Turkish Airlines, promises you an enjoyable travel experience.
