Held since 1979, TRT International April 23 Children's Festival will make children happy for the 41st time. The festival will begin in Samsun and continue in Ankara to celebrate the 100th anniversary  of the beginning of the Turkish national struggle. Held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and supported by the Governorate of Samsun and the Metropolitan Municipality of Samsun, the celebrations are expected to be attended by nearly 1,000 people including children between the ages of 9 and 13, hosts, and foreign press members from nearly 40 countries.
Throughout the week, schools and parents selected by the Samsun Provincial Directorate for National Education will welcome children in addition to 150 foreign hosts and nearly 30 press members.
As part of the festival held for the first time in Samsun, the celebrations will also include the exhibition The 41st Anniversary with Pictures, a festival picnic, the April 23 Gala Ceremony, the hospitality ceremony of the Governor of Samsun and the Metropolitan Mayor of Samsun, a festival parade, street performances, and excursions. 
The festival's Ankara leg will begin with a visit to Anıtkabir and continue with the hospitality ceremony of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Presidential Gala Ceremony at the Presidential Complex. Ending with the hospitality ceremony of the Turkish Parliamentary Speaker's Office and the TRT General Directorate, the festival will bid farewell to children with fond memories and new friendships.
