THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF ANATOLİA BY WORLD-RENOWNED PHOTOGRAPHER ARA GÜLER, DUBBED “THE EYE OF ISTANBUL”, ARE ON DİSPLAY İN WASHİNGTON, D.C.
Previously unexhibited works by this master photographer are coming to art lovers in the exhibition, “In Focus: Ara Güler’s Anatolia”. The photographs featured consist of medieval Seljuk and Armenian buildings shot in 1965. The exhibition, which chronicles the richness of Turkey’s cultural history, promises visitors a journey through Anatolia in photographs. Curated by a group of students at Johns Hopkins University, the exhibition can be seen at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery in Washington, D.C., through May 4.
ABOUT ARA GÜLER
Ara Güler, who described himself at a photo-journalist, is known for his iconic Istanbul photographs shot in the 1950’s and ‘60’s. His archive boasts upwards of 800,000 photographs.
