HELD THIS YEAR FOR THE 3RD TIME, KOROFEST IS IN ISTANBUL SEPTEMBER 6 TO 11.
Launched in 2009 at the initiative of Bogazici University Music Club, KoroFest brings together choirs, choir directors and music lovers from Turkey and Europe. Guests of the festival’s Gala Concert at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall are Cantemus Pro Musica and the Carmina Slovenica choir.
EVERYBODY CAN SING!
Distinguished by its social responsibility projects, KoroFest stands out for bringing choirs from various cities in Turkey and Europe together with children and the elderly, in short, with sectors of society for whom access to the arts is difficult. Based on the proposition that everybody can sing, the Choirs with perform at schools and culture centers, on university campuses and even on the street from September 6 to 11. Another festival aim is to bring music teachers and choir directors together with prominent educators and conductors.
EUROPEAN CHOIR FESTIVALS
Held this year for the 3rd time, KoroFest is among the festivals recommended by the European Choral Association. Association members include 41 national choral societies from 28 European countries, hundreds of choirs and tens of thousands of choral singers. The Istanbul / Turkey based KoroFest is tipped to be one of Europe’s leading choral festivals from here on out.
