Message of CEO
Date: Saturday, 01 February 2014
Turkish Airlines followed a rising growth curve in 2013 with success in all areas. Our passenger numbers, the destinations to which we fly and the number of planes in our fleet are all up in a serious way. What’s more, we also offered you a more comfortable and enjoyable flight experience thanks to innovations and improvements in our service quality. Our well-received services like our renovated CIP lounge, our new catering concept and our ever more popular TourIstanbul perk aim to make you happy on the ground as well. For all these services, we were again named “Europe’s Best Airline” by Skytrax in 2013. As a reflection of that success, we are also chairing the Board of Directors of the Association of European Airlines in the 2014-2015 period.
Saying “Widen Your World!” as an expression of its ever-expanding flight network, with the new routes opened in 2013 Turkish Airlines started flying to cities that despite being hubs in their own regions are little known around the world. This bold initiative not only earned the airline the title of “The airline that flies to more countries than any other airline in the world”, it also galvanized the movement to build key bridges between the known world, in the sense of tourism and economic relations, and the lesser known world. We intend to continue discovering the left-behind of the world in 2014 as well. We will invite you to explore new worlds by opening a total of sixteen new routes, two of them domestic. As our destinations rise to 260, we will also create a broad flight network between Europe, Africa and Asia with close to 1,300 daily flights, becoming the most active airline linking all these regions.
We are targeting a fleet of 267 planes, a total of 260 destinations with the 16 new routes to be opened, and passenger numbers of 59.5 million by the end of 2014. Another of our targets is to realize that growth with an integrative model of service quality and become a 5-star airline.
All these goals will be realized thanks to your good will and favor. I thank you all once again for your support and confidence and wish you a pleasant flight.
Temel Kotil, Ph.D.
