The starting point of East and West, Istanbul has been a center of attraction throughout history with its unique location bridging Europe and Asia. Connecting not only geographies but also civilizations and cultures in a meaningful way for millennia, Istanbul has always preserved its central location on the historic Silk Road.
Gateway to Europe and Asia, Istanbul today is on its way to becoming the world’s aviation hub. Asia’s star is rising again as the bulk of that air traffic will shift eastward by the year 2020. In the period ahead, cities like Istanbul, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are going to play a leading role as the new centers of attraction in airline travel. And Istanbul, due to its short travel time from points all over the world, is emerging as one of the cities of choice for international conventions, fairs and cultural events.
